This small greenhouse and produce operation near Kansas City was looking to link up several buildings on the farm without the expense of trenching cables. Future uses of the network will include wireless point-of-sale, remote weather data stations around the farm, and IP cameras. We designed a Ubiquiti-based system that had a high-gain omnidirectional base station at the residence, where it linked up to existing wireless broadband, with directional receivers at the various buildings. Coverage extends to most of the farm’s 60+ acres.
